A possible strike at Allison Transmission has been postponed.
The company and the United Auto Workers now have until noon Wednesday to reach a new labor deal. Some 1,500 workers are affected, and nearly 98 percent voted in favor of striking last month if a new deal was not reached.
The union has been holding contract meetings since early September.
The original deadline for the strike was midnight Wednesday morning.
